01After school, Pacific time
Our morning class in Hong Kong lands at four to five in the afternoon in Los Angeles, the same day your child gets home from school. No dawn starts and no late nights. Places in these Pacific-time groups are limited, because we run few of them.
02Taught by Oxford and Cambridge educators
Kat is an Oxford DPhil candidate in Education and a published first author on how children acquire language. William lectures in English in Europe and holds an Oxford MSc in Applied Linguistics. Caroline holds an Oxford Master’s in English as a Clarendon Scholar. Our founder studied at Harvard College and took her Master’s at Columbia.
03Writing that stands up anywhere
Eight of our secondary entrants reached the John Locke Institute Global Essay Prize shortlist, roughly double the rate across more than a hundred thousand entries worldwide. Our students go on to Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, LSE, Imperial and Columbia. The writing is the reason.
Questions from Los Angeles parents
When do classes run for Los Angeles students?+
Our Hong Kong morning class falls at four to five in the afternoon Pacific time, the day before in Hong Kong terms. For your child it is simply a weekday afternoon after school. Places in these Pacific-time groups are limited; your exact group is set after the interview.
Is this SAT or college-application preparation?+
No. This is closer to a university tutorial: writing, discussion and public speaking, taught so a child can think for themselves. Strong writing tends to help everything downstream, but if test drilling is what you want, we will say honestly that we are not it.
Will my child be the only American in the room?+
No, and the mix is the point. A Los Angeles student argues the same motion as classmates in Hong Kong, Singapore, London and Sydney, and has to answer them. That exchange is the part students remember.
How do we start?+
Book a free online interview through the booking box on our home page. Nothing to prepare. Your child comes for a thirty-minute conversation and we advise you honestly.
